OFFICE OF THE REGIONAL DIRECTOR OF EDUCATION: SAMBALPUR

Introduction :
Established in 14.02.1997 vide Govt. Resolution No. 5256/HE., dt. 29.01.1997. The Regional Directorate of Education at Sambalpur has been vested with administrative and financial powers in matters of Colleges, School and other educational institutions for streamlining the Administration    & expeditious disposal of various matter in the field of education. The Regional Directorate has     been constituted with the status of Heads of Department and is executive oriented in form.  At present the Directorate discharges function pertaining to:

1. Inspection of Govt. & Non-Govt. Colleges  including general supervision of the work  Principals of Non- Govt. Colleges and Govt.  Colleges except autonomous Colleges and Lead Colleges.
2. Recommendation for opening of new colleges/  stream/ subject.
3. Grant of recognition/renewal of recognition as per H.P.C. decisions and Hon’ble Minister’s Court Orders.
4. Pension/ G.P.F./ Leave/ Pay fixation cases of Govt. Colleges.
5. Countersignature/approval of tour programme, tour diary, tour particulars, T.E. bills of the Principals Non- Govt. Colleges and     Govt. Colleges except Autonomous Colleges and lead Colleges.
6. G.P.F./ Pay fixation cases of Non-Govt. Aided  Colleges.
7. Matters relating constitution of G.Bs.
8. Some administrative function of Schools.

Jurisdiction  :
The area of operation of Regional Directorate of Education, Sambalpur is courtminus with the Jurisdiction of Sambalpur University. As many as 31 nos. of Govt. Colleges and 379 nos. of Non-Govt. Colleges comes under the jurisdiction of this Regional Directorate of Education in the Districts of Sambalpur, Bolangir, Kalahandi, Sudargarh, Bargarh, Jharsuguda, Nuapada, Subarnapur, Boudh, Deogarh and part of Angul.
